03/06/2010 As part of its caring for the local environment and observing environmental regulations and projects, and in accordance with its effort to share various society’s events, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company has extended support for the first environmental spring camp, oprganised recently by the Information Center for Women and Children.
More than 100 children accompanied by their parents have participated in the Camp which aimed at encouraging and educating younger generations about the environment.
The event is part of the center's programs geared towards community, it also allows children to participate in activities that help promote independence and develop social skills, self-esteem and leadership skills.
The Camp is held in cooperation with local government bodies, Arab and international organizations. In a statement on the occasion, the GPIC General Manager Mr. Abdul Rahman Jawahery said that the GPIC has always been active in the social sphere, striving to give back to society. “In accordance with the directives of H.E Shaikh Isa bin Ali AL Khalifa, Advisor to HRM the Prime Minister for Oil and Industrial Affairs and GPIC Board Chairman, the company was always keen to participate and support different programs and events held by the civil society” he added. Mr. Jawahery expressed his hope that other organizations will follow GPIC's footstep in its commitment towards the society. The setting up of the Information Center for Women and Children was set up on December 1995 as one of the vital projects which the Children and Mother Welfare Society has been seeking to establish as part of its efforts to meet existing requirements and to provide badly needed services. The Center is considered as an information network that will serve the Kingdom of Bahrain and GCC states with a view to providing information, data and publications relevant to children and women in the region. |
