29/06/2010 The Crown Prince International Scholarship Scheme has focused on the significance of urging the Kingdom’s youngsters to get involved in community service for cultivation of the spirit of belonging and engaging in voluntary work so that the younger generation get acquainted with the objectives of civil society organizations and to be aware of the community’s requirements.
In a statement, Shaikha Marwa bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Deputy Director of the Crown Prince International Scholarship Scheme said the scheme would give the opportunity to all candidates for scholarships under the Scheme to take part in a project designed to engage them in the community service through working with one of the various charities in Bahrain. GPIC has sponsored this particular project and will provide observers for the Scheme and support it through offering rewards to the co-operating charities. Students who wish to participate in this project will be divided into groups with each to work in one of the charities that has been selected according to carefully laid down rules and standards. Students will help such societies reach effective solutions to overcome the challenges faced in their daily operations to that the students would gain a valuable practical experience. This project will run during the period from 31st July to 17th August 2010. Meanwhile, Shaikha Marwa bint Rashid Al Khalifa expressed her thanks and appreciation to Mr. Abdul Rahman Jawahery, GPIC General Manager for sponsoring this initiative and providing the necessary support and backing for it. In response, Mr. Jawahery said it is a great honour for GPIC to be the first supporter of this experiment. He added the community service project will undoubtedly develop leaders who have the knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of their community from a young age and would enable them in future to adopt sound practical decisions for the growth and development of the community. GPIC General Manager added practical experience is the best method of learning and developing leaders of the future as each student will be able to live in his actual environment and will closely realize and feel its woes and requirements. Indeed, such practical training is what is pursued by the developed countries that have been able to gain the fruits of this experience and develop their communities. |
