One of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company’s (GPIC) women Engineers, Reem Ahmed Al Otaibi, has attended a management leadership training camp organised by the UK Leadership Trust.

Ms. Reem’s participation was in line with GPIC’s orientation to empower women, enhance their training and develop them, while giving them the opportunity to receive the best training courses available at home and abroad.

In a statement, GPIC President, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said that the Company is keen to support its female employees at all of the Company's facilities and factories by engaging them in various training courses that enhance their professionalism.

Dr. Jawahery praised Ms. Reem, who he described it as one of the Company’s young female talents and said she had shown top class excellence since joining the Company.

He said this reflects a clear image that Bahraini women are capable of performing well in any job. He said this also translates into the commitment of Bahraini women to assume all responsibilities, whatever they are working.

Dr. Jawahery said the Company is keen to provide all possible support its women employees and is working hard to them to rise to the highest executive positions.

He said the achievement comes on the eve of Bahraini Women’s Day, soon to be held under patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women.

He said Bahraini women have the right to be proud of their leadership's support and the empowerment and encouragement of Her Royal Highness

In her comments, Ms. Reem expressed appreciation for the Company's Management, especially Dr. Jawahery, who she said is an ardent supporter of women and is always working to encourage and provide them support.

She said this is the first time that the Management had decided to send women to participate in the camp in order to give them the opportunity to learn and participate in an international environment.

She also thanked Her Royal Highness for choosing to celebrate the year as Bahraini Women’s Year, adding that it is a model for them to be encouraged and empowered in all workplaces.

She applauded the dedication of Her Royal Highness who has a long history of giving.

The camp is organized and supervised by the Leadership Trust since 1975. It includes a wide range of teaching aids that can be applied in offices, classrooms and open spaces such to create simulate the nature of problems, pressures and situations that can occur in working life and how to cope with them.

The camp programmes aim to create leaders capable of managing business and facing challenges, whatever the working conditions.

Ms. Reem holds a Master's degree in Engineering Management with honors from George Washington University, in the United States, where she was ranked first, confirming her excellence and outstanding academic excellence.

She also received a Certificate of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, In addition to her being a member of the Consultative Council of the National University.

GPIC's Management is keen to support its employees as its true wealth and helps develop them by providing opportunities for expertise, education and training.

The training offered by the Company allows its employees to developing their knowledge, abilities and skills.
