Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) Corporate Communications Department Media Analyst Supervisor Ms. Raeda Saif Al Shemeri has been named Chairperson of the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) Communication and Public Affairs Working Group.

The election took place on the sidelines of the AFA’s 24th Annual Forum in the Egyptian capital, Cairo between February 13 and 15.

In his comments, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery expressed happiness and pride at Ms. Al Shemeri’s selection, which, he said, comes in recognition of the Company’s young talent and the ideal environment they work in.

He said the Company gives them the opportunity to interact and gain experience as part of its plans to prepare them to take the lead in the future.

Dr. Jawahery said Ms. Al Shemeri had always shown great promise, not only in administrative work but also while participating in social and sports activities.

He said she is capable of proving leadership at various levels and added her selection reflects the aspirations of Bahraini women and their determination to assume full responsibility for their work.

Dr. Jawahery praised the role of the Communication and Public Affairs Working Group, which works to enhance the role of the media and its direct impact on the development of the industry. He also spoke of the major changes that have taken place in the working of the AFA, including the formation of the group, which works to develop its media and marketing mechanism.

Dr. Jawahery congratulated Ms. Al Shemeri and said her elevation is a source of pride for the Company that has provided her with the ideal environment for excellence and creativity. He expressed confidence in her ability to perform her duties well due to her extensive experience in communication and media.

Ms. Al Shemeri expressed appreciation at her selection and said it would not have happened without the encouragement and support of the Executive Management and the trust of the AFA members. She said the encouragement from Dr. Jawahery helped develop her skills.

She expressed the hope that, in cooperation with the others, she would be able to develop the group’s work and performance and contribute to enhancing the AFA’s role.

Ms. Al Shemeri joined the Company in 2006. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Bahrain and is an MBA from New York University. She is responsible for media coverage and news preparation.

She also organizes events and activities and oversees providing support to various parties to ensure the Company’s objectives are met.

She has represented GPIC at several overseas events and conferences and is a member of its several internal and external committees. She has also been the President of the GPIC Toastmasters Club and has won awards and honours.

Ms. Al Shemeri has numerous contributions to Bahrain’s social, charitable and voluntary associations and provides training courses and workshops for associations and school students in cooperation with the Bahrain Society for Training and Human Development.

She participated in training of the teams at INJAZ Bahrain as well as in the local arbitration committees for its competitions.
