A high-powered delegation from the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) took part in the 31st Technical Conference and Exhibition of the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) in Casablanca, Morocco.

More than 300 experts and officials from major Arab and international fertilizer companies took part in the event.
AFA Secretary General Mohammed H.E. Mr. Abdullah Zaeen welcomed the delegates and thanked the sponsors for providing all elements that would help achieve the objectives of the event. He also recognized the contributions of participating delegations, which enriched the meetings.

GPIC delegation presented a set of research papers that included ideas and technical solutions for important aspects related to the strategic industry. The delegates also submitted a number of other research and practical papers, including case studies, during their participation in technical, economic, occupational safety and health committees.

In his comments, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said that the participation is based on the Company's keenness to attend various conferences and activities related to the fertilizer industry and benefit from the deliberations. He said such events support the industry and develop and meet the challenges that impede its progress. He said GPIC is keen to take advantage of and benefit from the latest developments in the fertilizer industry.
He said such specialized conferences support building of specialized managerial and technical capabilities of the workers in this industry and praised the organizational efforts and preparations that contributed to the success of the event.

Dr. Jawahery spoke about the vision of the Company and its interest in communication and active participation in various activities. He said that GPIC’s vision is to use more modern technology and harness it for agricultural production to achieve food security.
The conference focused on the 2030 fertiliser industry strategy at the Arab and international levels, as well as the role of the fertiliser industry in serving the agriculture and environment sector. During the event, the company also reviewed the latest technological developments. The conference aimed to follow up on the new technology in the fields of engineering and to modernize, develop and use it in the best possible way.
GPIC has a good reputation in the fertiliser industry at the regional, Arab and global levels. The company has close ties with the AFA, of which Dr. Jawahery has been president for two consecutive terms. The GPIC one of the major industrial companies in the region and contributes to providing several relevant studies in addition to implementing important initiatives.

The AFA was established in 1975 under the umbrella of the Arab Economic Unity Council. It brings together Arab institutions and companies in the fertiliser industry and trade and related fields, and includes as its members more than 166 companies from 30 countries. The AFA aims to assist members in dealing with production issues by exchanging information and experiences, documenting technical, economic, commercial and agricultural data related to the fertilizer and material industry, as well as supporting and developing technical and vocational training programmes for workers.
