Delegates visiting Bahrain to take part in a workshop organised by the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) in co-operation with the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC).

They were welcomed by the company’s Executive Management and officials, who conveyed to them the greetings of GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery.

They said the visit would give them a chance to learn more about the nature of the Company's work and witness the development of its factories and facilities.

The visitors were given a briefing on the Company’s operational strategy, its production process and exports. They also learnt about its achievements and awards as well as the application of the best and latest international standards in the areas of safety, quality and environmental conservation.

The guests visited the carbon dioxide recovery plant and expressed their admiration for the unique project, which contributes significantly in reducing harmful emissions resulting from factory operations.

They then went to the Leadership and Learning Academy and the e-learning Centre where they were briefed on its training programmes and activities as well as its contribution to the continuous education of the company's employees.

The delegation praised the modern technologies and the advanced teaching and training methods and said the presence of such a training facility within the Company's headquarters speaks of GPIC’s interest in training its staff while ensuring they are provided with the latest and latest technology and knowledge.

The visitors saw the environmental projects within the complex, visited the Princess Sabeeka Garden for Aromatic Plants as well as the Medicinal Herbs and Plants Garden set up to preserve the rare medicinal herbs used in the past. They were impressed on seeing the Charity Fish Farm and the Bird Sanctuary.

They thanked Dr. Jawahery and the Executive Management for the hospitality while giving them a chance to learn about Bahrain’s development in general and GPIC in particular.

They applauded the Company's advanced plants and its unique environmental projects within its industrial complex, which confirmed its commitment to a clean industry. They said the company had created a name for itself in the fields of safety and health, which earned it reputation all over the region and globally.

The visitors were in Bahrain to take part in a workshop on Health, Safety and the Environment in the Fertilizer Industry - Time of Excellence - organized by the Arab Fertilizer Association in co-operation with the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association.

About 50 participants from 10 Arab and other countries attended the workshop from September 4 to 6. The workshop witnessed an exchange of views on best practices in the management of health, safety and the environment and the commitment of the fertilizer industry towards the principle.
