GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery received His Excellency Ambassador Yasser Shaaban, the new Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Bahrain.

Welcoming the guest, Dr. Jawahery praised the close relations the company has with Egyptian fertilizers and petrochemical companies. He said these companies are major contributors to the comprehensive development process taking place Egypt, which is also the headquarters of the Arab Fertilizer Association.

Dr. Jawahery appreciated the work done by former Ambassador H.E. Ms. Suha Al-Far to promote and develop industrial relations between the two brotherly countries, saying she had visited GPIC several times.

During the meeting, which was attended by the company’s Executive Management and senior officials, the two sides exchanged views on matters of common concern. His Excellency the Ambassador was briefed on the nature of GPIC’s and its high-quality products manufactured in accordance with the highest occupational safety and health standards as well as care for the environment before being exported to the world's largest markets.


His Excellency was also given an overview of the company’s business strategy and the efforts made by the management in supporting sustainability and community service through its commitment to social responsibility.His Excellency was taken on a tour of the company's plants, facilities and environmental initiatives, during which he was told about the operation process and the latest equipment and systems. He visited the only one of its kind carbon dioxide recovery unit set up as part of GPIC’s efforts to preserve the environment and combat pollution.

His Excellency also went around the environmental and green initiatives spread throughout the complex, including the Plants and Medicinal Herbs Garden set up to preserve rare medicinal herbs used in the past for therapeutic purposes.

He visited the Bird Sanctuary and the Charity Fish Farm that support Bahrain’s fish wealth. He later planted a tree to commemorate his visit.


In his comments, His Excellency expressed admiration at GPIC’s development at all levels, praising the efforts of the Board of Directors and the Executive Management in making the company a model for the Arab industry.

He said it is this that had fueled the company’s success and continued growth and helped it achieve records and made it a model of Arab cooperation at all levels.

His Excellency spoke of GPIC’s role in the field of social responsibility through programmes it implements and which focus primarily on developing the human factor and preparing young people for success.

His Excellency said he had previously visited several giant industrial companies but what he saw at GPIC in terms of proficiency, development, professionalism and commitment to occupational safety and health, was unmatched. He praised the executive management for all of the company’s achievements since its inception and congratulated them on its 40th anniversary.

His Excellency the Ambassador thanked Dr. Jawahery and the Executive Management for the welcome and the hospitality and said he hoped he would get the opportunity to visit again and to begin a new phase of fruitful cooperation. He wished the company continued success at all levels.
