19 April 2020

GPIC is to contribute $1 million in support of the Feena Khair campaign, launched by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation.

The campaign is in response to the growing demands from the private sector and indi-viduals to contribute to national efforts to tackle the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, announcing the decision of the Board of Directors, said GPIC, as always, stands in support of all national initiatives that target the good of society. He said Bahrain and other nations are going through never before witnessed and unparalleled challenges to tackle the spread of the Coro-navirus, which require everyone’s co-operation.

Dr. Jawahery expressed appreciation for the unlimited support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa through his continued support for humanitarian and national efforts to face the situation. He praised the efforts of the government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, in imple-menting plans and strategies that ensure protection and care for citizens and residents.

Dr. Jawahery also praised the role of all those involved in managing the situation in Bahrain since the beginning of the outbreak under the leadership of His Royal High-ness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Com-mander and First Deputy Prime Minister, who has been a source of inspiration.

He said the loyal people of Bahrain, companies and businessmen stand together and behind their leadership. He added everyone is committed to following all preventive measures and instructions issued by the authorities to stop the spread of the virus.

Dr. Jawahery said that the Board of Directors appreciated the responsible role of the company and the importance of supporting all initiatives, while adhering to the concept of corporate social responsibility, especially during these difficult times.

He said these challenges have an impact on the lives of the ordinary people and such social responsibility initiatives provide an opportunity for companies to do things that are in the interest of the societies they function in.

Dr. Jawahery commended the efforts and sacrifices of everyone in the Ministry of Health, medical and specialized nursing staff as well as all technical teams to tackle the virus. He said the state has harnessed all its capabilities and resources to ensure the health and well-being of the people.

This initiative comes on the directives of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Kha-lifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil, for companies affiliated with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), to contribute to the campaign out of their national and humanitarian duty.

The NOGA-affiliated companies have together provided a total of $18 million towards the campaign.
