GPIC hosted His Excellency Mr. Iain Lindsay, Advisor to Board of the Economic Development Board (EDB) on Sunday 21 March 2021, on the occasion of assuming his duties as an Advisor to the Board. During the visit, His Excellency was briefed on the nature of the company's operations, and was closely acquainted with the quality of the products that the company exports to the largest global markets.

His Excellency was received upon his arrival to the company’s industrial complex by Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, GPIC President and members of the Executive Management, where he welcomed the guest and conveyed the regards of Their Excellencies GPIC Chairman and Board of Directors. Dr. Jawahery explained that the valued visit will further develop the cooperation between GPIC and the Economic Development Board (EDB).

Dr. Jawahery praised the Economic Development Board’s strategies that enhance the Kingdom of Bahrain's investment position and highlight its economic achievements, as the Kingdom enjoys promising investment potentials to attract major international companies in light of a fair competitive environment and advanced legislation compatible with international labor standards, along with national expertise and competencies capable of managing production processes in various sectors.

  

GPIC President praised the wise vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Leadership with regard to supporting continuous and sustainable economic growth, which contribute to building a better life for all citizens, and perhaps this explains the efforts made by the esteemed Board to support investments and build local capacities.

Dr. Jawahery praised the relentless efforts of the Board, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, The Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, Prime Minister and Chairman of Bahrain Economic Development Board, as His Royal Highness selected individuals representing of the industrial sector to be members of the Board of Directors. This step translates the insight of His Royal Highness and the great appreciation for the role of the industrial sector in supporting the national economy. The growing success achieved by the private sector is, in fact, due to the ingredients and incentives provided by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain harnessing all resources to support this important sector.

Dr. Jawahery concluded by stressing that the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co, through its current and future initiatives, seeks to attract more investments to the Kingdom, especially through its future projects that are intended to establish to support the objectives of the Economic Development Board in terms of attracting profitable investments to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

HE Mr. Iain Lindsay stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the Economic Development Board (EDB) and the industrial sector, pointing to the important position that the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC) represents, whether in terms of its contributions to the industry or in the development of society or in relation to the continuous development it is witnessing at all levels. GPIC strengthened its local, regional, and even global position, adding that it is one of the destinations that the Board seeks to increase cooperation with serving their common objectives.

HE Mr. Lidsay explained that the Economic Development Board is exerting unremitting efforts to support initiatives and projects that seek to benefit from of the ideal environment provided by the Government of Bahrain to support and enhance the economic movement in the Kingdom, and went on to say, "The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. is in fact one of the most important major industrial companies in the Kingdom, through our cooperation with GPIC, we can work to achieve our common goals in terms of competitiveness and creating qualified manpower. "

His Excellency the Advisor expressed his great admiration for this reputable industrial organization, which is considered a successful example of distinguished Gulf cooperation, and described the visit as a good opportunity to closely examine an honorable model for successful Bahraini companies committed to preserving the environment and its components by establishing a variety of environmental projects side by side with its plants, which truly confirm the Leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its commitment to an environmentally friendly and sustainable industry.

HE Mr. Lindsay also extended his sincere thanks to the President of the company, members of the Executive Management and all employees for the hospitable reception, praising his happiness for the outstanding performance of the administrative staff and all employees and their sincere dedication that resulted in the excellence and uniqueness of the company. His Excellency wished the company and those in charge of it continuous success and progress.

It is worth noting that the Economic Development Board in the Kingdom of Bahrain focuses on many economic sectors that benefit from the competitive investment opportunities in Bahrain. The Council supervises the economic development strategy in the Kingdom of Bahrain and works to provide the appropriate climate to attract direct investments to the Kingdom.

The Board’s role is embodied in unifying all concerned Government agencies within an aligned vision and laying down basic strategies for sustainable growth. The Board also acts as a business facilitator, helping all stakeholders in the Kingdom of Bahrain understand and embrace the change required for advancements. In addition, the Board manages projects to ensure that all agreed reform initiatives are implemented in an efficient and timely manner.
