Dr. Jawahery: We are proud of HE Sheikha Hala's role in organizing traditional events promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain as a preferred cultural destination

As part of the company’s interest to enhance cooperation and communication with different Authorities within the Kingdom, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, President of Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, received on Tuesday 27 July 2021, Her Excellency Sheikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, welcoming her first visit to the complex.

Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery welcomed Sheikha Hala, and applauded her as a prime example of a leading Bahraini woman who excels in her field.  He praised her hard work in culture and arts, building bridges of cultural communication and organizing events that promote Bahrain as a preferred cultural destination.

GPIC’s President briefed Her Excellency on the modernization carried out at the plants and facilities and the state-of-the-art systems that are used in the operational processes, as well as GPIC’s occupational safety procedures, which are of global standards.

The company's President explained the company's plans and future strategies, through which GPIC seeks to expand its markets and projects both within and outside the Kingdom. He also gave H.E. a brief of the company's products, which are in high demand due to their exceptional quality, contributing to the company's many awards and establishing GPIC as one of the best producers of petrochemicals at both regional and global levels.

Dr. Jawahery highlighted role that the company plays in social responsibility, stressing that GPIC looks with increasing interest to the concept of corporate social responsibility as a key concept in business.  This is especially in light of the increased awareness of social and environmental issues that have an impact on the lives of ordinary citizens. Social responsibility, he added, provides the opportunity for companies to make more tangible contributions and initiatives that are in the interest of their communities.

Dr. Jawahery praised the important role played by Her Excellency Sheikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa in promoting cultural initiatives.  He acknowledged the importance of this in bringing people of different nations together, as the Kingdom of Bahrain has an impressive cultural presence making it a natural cultural destination.  He continued that the company would continue to provide its support and sponsorship for the important events organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, out of its interest and appreciation for art and culture.

Her Excellency Sheikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa extended her thanks and appreciation to Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and its President, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, for inviting her to visit the company.  H.E. continued that the company has always been proactive in providing support and sponsorship to the various activities and events, and it is one of the main supporters for the Authority, especially the full support it provides for the vertical garden in the City of Muharraq.

Her Excellency also expressed her deep thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome she received during her visit to the complex, expressing her great admiration for the wonderful environmental projects that the GPIC has implemented, a move that reflects the great interest that the company attaches to the environment.

Her Excellency spoke about her admiration for the company who continued to maintain its strong investment in people development by structuring effective remote training sessions and courses, and encouraging the virtual attendance at workshops and conferences both in Bahrain and overseas to build the capability of the company’s future leaders.  Her Excellency was very impressed how the entire workforce is committed to upholding the quality, production and safety standards despite all the challenges faced.

During the tour, H.E. saw the various environmental initiatives set up within complex, based on its policy of supporting the environment. She visited the HRH Princess Sabeeka Garden for Aromatic Plants, the Garden of Medicinal Plants and Herbs, in addition to the Charity Fish Farm and Bird Sanctuary.

Her Excellency Sheikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Tufts University in the United States of America, and in 2002 she received a Master's Degree in Art from University College London. Her Excellency taught Arts at the University of Bahrain, then held several positions at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, she is also an accomplished artist who has exhibited her work at various shows, including the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, and presented her art in solo exhibitions both inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Arab Theater Authority in the United Arab Emirates honored her.  She also received the Italian Star Medal for her active role in the fields of culture, arts and theatre in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
