The history of the Kingdom is full of many success stories written by Bahraini women over the years.

Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, President of Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), stated that the Supreme Council for Women is a true reflection of the insightful vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain. 

A reflection of His Majesty’s continuous calls to support and empower Bahraini women, and to create an institution that adopts the application of transparent methodologies for integrating women's needs in development and establishing the principles of equal opportunities.  His Majesty has been known for his encouragement, care and interest in Bahraini women, whom he considers to be a precious component deserving all care, appreciation and support.

During a press statement on the occasion of the Supreme Council for Women’s celebrations for the twentieth anniversary of its founding, the Company’s President confirmed that this milestone was achieved by the leadership and ongoing support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women.  

Today, the Supreme Council for Women stands proud and tall, as its success has taken Bahraini women to greater levels, standing alongside and at the forefront of the Kingdom.  Further highlighting that Bahraini women deserve the best opportunities, as well as being appreciated and recognised for their generations of perseverance and historical sacrifices, which were often during challenging circumstances, and our history is rich in many success stories, which were written over the years by Bahraini women.

Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery praised the sincere dedication of the highly qualified and experienced team of the Council, who aspire to the continuous advancement of Bahraini woman, highlighting that the Supreme Council for Women, in just two decades, has been able to advance the status of Bahraini women by providing them with a helping hand in developing their performance within the community and workplace.

The GPIC President also praised the exemplary cooperation and high standard of coordination extended by the Supreme Council for Women within the public and private sectors, in order to achieve the presence of Bahraini working women within various workplaces.  

Dr. Jawahery also highlighted that the distinguished partnership between the Supreme Council for Women and the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company was indeed, an exemplary partnership over the years and since the establishment of the Council.  Furthermore, GPIC was one of the first companies to form the Equal Opportunities Council headed by the Company’s President, for continuous coordination between the two sides in organising events, programmes and activities in support of the advancement of Bahraini women in general and women working within the company.

Dr. Jawahery expressed his great appreciation for the tremendous efforts made by the Supreme Council for Women, and for its continuous follow-up and support for the involvement of Bahraini women within the industrial field, including the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, further stating that GPIC makes continuous efforts to enhance cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women.

Dr. Jawahery added, the company has been able to achieve great success within the field of attracting Bahraini women to work in all its departments, including; operational, technical and administrative processes, and is also rich with a large group of qualified female engineers and administrators from highly recognised and reputable local and foreign universities, who have contributed to the company’s list of accomplishments. Further highlighting that Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company is proud of the presence of Bahraini women within its Executive Management Team.

Dr. Jawahery concluded his statement by praising the Supreme Council for Women as their belief and determination for Bahraini women to succeed and achieve important roles within the Kingdom’s workplace has been accomplished.  Dr. Jawahery is confident that with the ongoing help and support of the country’s leadership and the Supreme Council for Women; Bahraini women will continue to flourish and thrive, growing and excelling within our beloved country for our future generation and beyond.
